StackShield 3.0 Brings Automated Patch Management to Small Business IT

The Patching Problem Nobody Talks About
In enterprise security circles, unpatched software barely warrants a mention — it's assumed that large organizations have vulnerability management programs that address it. In small and mid-sized businesses, the reality is different. Many run software stacks that haven't been systematically reviewed for vulnerabilities in months, simply because no one has the time, the tooling, or the knowledge to do it.
StackShield was founded four years ago to address exactly this gap. Its platform provides endpoint monitoring and patch management for businesses without a dedicated IT security function. Version 3.0 represents the most significant update to the product since its initial launch.
What's New in Version 3.0
The headline addition is automated vulnerability scanning with active remediation suggestions. Previous versions of StackShield identified outdated software and flagged known CVEs, but left the actual patching to the user. Version 3.0 introduces a remediation workflow that can apply patches automatically based on configurable risk thresholds, or surface one-click approval prompts for manual review.
Additional updates in this release include:
- A redesigned dashboard that surfaces risk exposure as a plain-language score, designed to be interpretable by non-technical business owners.
- Integration with Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace for SaaS application monitoring alongside traditional endpoint coverage.
- Audit-ready reporting exports formatted for compliance frameworks including ISO 27001 and Cyber Essentials.
- A new mobile app for on-the-go alert review and patch approval.
Built for Teams Without a Dedicated IT Department
The design philosophy throughout version 3.0 is legibility over control. Where enterprise security tools tend to expose every configurable option, StackShield makes opinionated defaults and keeps the decision surface small. The assumption is that the person approving a patch may be the same person running payroll and answering support emails.
Pricing for StackShield 3.0 starts at €19 per device per month, with volume discounts available from 25 devices.
